CollaboratioNZ 2027: Collaborating Artist Registration Form

5th - 14th March 2027

Please only fill this form out if you have been offered and are accepting a place as a collaborating artist for CollaboratioNZ 2027. If you are interested in participating as an artist, please complete our Artist Application Form instead.

Welcome to our artists from near and far. We are very excited to host you at CollaboratioNZ in 2027 from Friday 5th March - Sunday 14th March 2027. If you haven't yet had a look, we encourage you to read the Join Us! page to learn more about the event, location, and the benefits of participating.

Catered meals and camp accommodation are included in your participation of CollaboratioNZ.

CollaboratioNZ Location

CollaboratioNZ 2027 will be held at McGregors Bay, Whangārei Heads, Northland, New Zealand, approximately 30 minutes from central Whangārei.

This stunning beachfront venue is situated at the foot of Mt Manaia, a landmark steeped in Māori legend that has long inspired creativity. This coastal environment provides the perfect setting for artists to explore new ideas, collaborate with others, and work across different mediums.

We recommend staying on-site as much as possible to make art and enjoy the event. If you need to purchase items such as beverages, snacks, etc., you will be able to catch a ride with one of the locals.

For information regarding the site, please visit: http://www.regentcommunitytrust.org/manaia-camp.html

Note: there is no WIFI at the camp. SPARK offers the best mobile reception in the area.

Travel

Artists travelling from within New Zealand or internationally can fly into Whangārei Airport. If you can't get a flight directly into Whangārei, there is a bus from Auckland to Whangārei central.

Airport or bus pickup can be arranged if required.

If you require transport from Whangārei city to the CollaboratioNZ site please tell us your arrival time and you can be met in central Whangārei, bus depot or Whangārei airport.

Accommodation

Bunkroom accommodation is provided on site. There is also a camping area available if you wish to bring a tent. Onsite accommodation is included in your registration fee. Artists who prefer to stay offsite will find a variety of accommodation options within 10 minutes’ drive of the venue (at their own expense).

Set Up and arrivals

We are accepting registrations on Friday the 5th of March from 10.00am. The official opening ceremony is at 4.30pm. There will be no art-making before this time.

Please note: Marquees and power are being installed on Wednesday 3rd, with transportation of equipment and pack-in all day Thursday 4th and the morning of Friday 5th. If you do arrive before Friday midday, there is an expectation to ‘muck-in’ and assist in the general set-up of the event. Please note there is no catering prior to Friday evening so you will be responsible for your own food. There are limited options (a short drive away), so you may prefer to stock up in Whangārei before heading out to site. There is no access to the kitchen during the event so please don't purchase anything that requires chilling.

Materials and Equipment

Artists are encouraged to bring their specialty materials, transportable tools, and interesting, unusual, or found materials to share. Fundamental tools and materials can be sourced (where possible) on request, where advanced notice is given.

Bring: Swimming gear, raincoat, personal safety gear, towels, torches, bedding, a sense of adventure, and some mosquito repellent.

Public Open Day

A Public Open Day will be held on Tuesday 9th March 2027, from 10am – 3pm. Visitors will have the opportunity to see artists at work and experience the collaborative creative process. For health and safety reasons, this is the only time non-participants are permitted onsite.

Exhibition and Art Auction

All artwork created during the event becomes the property of the CollaboratioNZ Trust, and is sold to fund future CollaboratioNZ events.

Completed works will be exhibited and auctioned at the public art exhibition and auction in Whangārei on Saturday 13th March 2027.

We wish you a safe journey and look forward to collaborating with you, please get in touch if you need assistance.
