Applications are now open to become a Collaborating Artist at CollaboratioNZ 2027, which will be held from 5th - 14th March.
This unique creative event brings together national and international artists to collaborate, experiment with new mediums, and create original artworks in an inspiring natural setting.

Event Location
CollaboratioNZ 2027 will be held at McGregors Bay, Whangarei Heads, Northland, New Zealand, approximately 30 minutes from central Whangārei.
This stunning beachfront venue sits at the foot of Mt Manaia, a landmark steeped in Māori legend that has long inspired creativity. This coastal environment provides the perfect setting for artists to explore new ideas, collaborate with others, and work across different mediums.
Accommodation
Bunkroom accommodation is provided on site. There are also camping areas available for tents.
Artists who prefer to stay offsite will find a variety of accommodation options within 10 minutes’ drive of the venue (at their own expense).
Travel
Artists travelling from within New Zealand or internationally can fly into Whangārei Airport.
Airport pickup can be arranged if required.

Public Open Day
A Public Open Day will be held during the event on Tuesday 9th March 2027, from 10am – 3pm.
Visitors will have the opportunity to see artists at work and experience the collaborative creative process.
Exhibition and Art Auction
All artwork created during the event becomes the property of the CollaboratioNZ Trust and will be sold to help cover event costs and seed the next CollaboratioNZ event.
Completed works will be exhibited to sponsors, invited guests, media, and the public before being auctioned.
The public art auction will take place at the Hihiaua Cultural Centre in Whangārei on Saturday 13th March 2027, from 11am.
Materials and Equipment
All artmaking materials and equipment are provided (except personal hand tools).
Artists are encouraged to bring interesting, unusual, or found materials to share.
This week-long creative experience offers artists the chance to explore new mediums, collaborate with others, and discover new artistic directions.
Participation Fee
The participation fee is $1,495 (GST inclusive) NZD per artist.
This includes:
On-site camp accommodation
Full catering throughout the event
Access to equipment and artmaking supplies
One complimentary CollaboratioNZ t-shirt
Access to photographs of completed artworks
Places are limited, so early applications are recommended.

Application Fee
A $30 (GST inclusive) non-refundable application fee must be paid before your application can be processed. If your application is successful, this amount will be credited toward your CollaboratioNZ registration fee. Please note that places for CollaboratioNZ 2027 are limited, and we may not be able to offer a place to all applicants this event.
As a little bonus, all applications received by 31 May 2026 will be automatically entered into a draw to win one of four artworks generously donated by the CollaboratioNZ committee.
